Suspenders and belts

My question is simple why do people wear belts along with suspenders. It's like there worried if the belt gives out the suspenders will save them from the circus of embarrassment. Some people put on both because they simply dont think about it but it really should be one or the other never both. Whatever humans will be humans.

    This could be your post about fears. What are these people afraid of? Sometimes we have backups for our backups. When really...can't we just find pants that fit. (Are we being metaphorical here?)
